Week 5 Diary

I managed 2 turbo sessions and a normal gym session this week.
Felt pretty good coming in to the weekend's team ride.
All eight of us met up to have the photo shoot plus a tour of Christopher's.
As soon as we arrived it brought back memories and during the tour I certainly have a couple of tearful moments.
The place is just amazing, nothing is too much trouble for any of their "guests".
Although it is a hospice it is not like an adult hospice it is more a place where family can come to get a rest, have fun, talk and be listened to. It is designed for children of all abilities and ages from 0 to 19.
If any of us needed any additional motivation for the ride it was certainly provided.
We also met Andrew Castle and the Mayor of Guildford. I was struck by just how down to earth Andrew is, he clearly has a lot of passion for supporting CHASE. He immediately came up with additional ideas to help to publicise the Race for Chase.
The ride went well, all the guys seem to be getting in the training. It felt good to all be riding together, but although we rode together for 5 hours (with stops etc) it seemed that we rarely got a chance to talk to one another. The roads were busy and I guess we need to get used to them. I was pleased to not fall off at all ;-)
We certainly need to practice riding together to gain the benefit of slipstreaming, but I think we need to find some long relatively flat and quite roads to do this.
